We’re on a mission from God
Yes, that is a reference to the Blues Brothers and there are some similarities to what we do at St. Paul. Elwood and Jake set out to save the Catholic orphanage where they grew up. Our methods are quite different from theirs but the mission is essentially the same – carry Christ’s love to all by helping people who need help. As a congregation we support groups such as SON Ministries (food for the hungry), Washington UCC (assistance to kids), the Interfaith Hospitality Network (helping the homeless find housing and jobs), and Seeders & Feeders (growing fruit and vegetables for food pantries). Nearly all our members are involved, as individuals, in helping others. They range from one 98-year old woman who is still volunteering at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to younger people who sew, repair, and do whatever else is needed by the group where they serve. Mission and service are an integral part of our congregational DNA. We believe that God works in the world through people. If you want to be useful, come join us.
