St. Paul UCC Vision
Our Vision Statement is a reflection of how we see our congregation and also a description of how we want to work, to be engaged in the community around us. We believe that God uses us to work in this world and we change this statement as we become more aware of what God intends for us to do.
Mission is crucial to the identity of our congregation. Most of our members are individually involved in service projects with groups such as Camp Washington UCC, Bethany House, SON Ministries, and the Crop Walk. As a congregation we send funds to our UCC Association, Conference, and National Office to support disaster relief in the US and have been involved in a long-term UCC Association project to develop a hospital and stable water supply at the Presbyterian Teacher’s College in Rubate, Kenya. We believe that a congregation must develop an awareness and the necessary abilities for its members to engage in mission (service) to our community, near and far away.
Nurture reflects the love we have within our congregation. Members visit our shut-ins. Cards of care are sent to those who are struggling with health or other issues. We nurture those in our congregation through fellowship activities like our new Young Adult Network, and our adult Christian education programs.
Laughter reflects our joy in journeying together. The laughter heard during worship services and meetings is a unique and special part of St Paul UCC’s identity.
Inclusiveness names our firm commitment to live and work together in peace in spite of the variety of theological, political, and social views held by our members. We all come together on Sunday mornings to celebrate our faith and our great loving God. We can disagree without being disagreeable. We believe in the UCC’s vision of autonomous perspectives while being in covenant with one another.
Lastly, at the center of all we do is experiencing and sharing the love of Christ. The heart of Jesus’ message is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and all your mind" and to "love your neighbor as yourself." With this command by Jesus, we Carry Christ’s Love to All and continue to share this love with our neighbors.
